On the global scale, monitoring the species diversity and structural components changes over time, as well as the management consequenses and those effects on aboveground carbon stock (AGCS), is essential to mitigate or even halt climate change and biodiversity loss. To achieve this aim, 31 1000 m2 plots were located in two managed (selective logging) and unmanaged (control) stands and were compared in terms of the change's trends in diversity indeices and structural components across three decades. The Multiple linear regression models (MLRs) and structural equation models (SEMs) were developed to investigate the effects of the stand structural components’ changes and physiographical variables on AGCS in Tyromroad forest of Mazandaran province. Results showed that the AGCS, O2 production and CO2 absorption in unmanaged stands increased over three decades (i.e., from 2004 to 2024) and were higher than those of in managed stands. S index of 2004 decade, AGCS, and Se index of 2014 and 2024, CVD and CVBA of 2024, and CVH of 2014 showed significant differences between managed and unmanaged stands. MLRs and SEMs results of managed and unmanaged stands showed a significant negative effect of Se index and a significant positive effect of SDha on AGCS. Therefore, the technically appropriate implementation of the single-tree selective logging method, due to the natural degradation process simulation on a small scale, is a suitable approach for species diversity conservation and enrichment in Northern forests of Iran.
