Manuscript Preparation Guide- Journal of Forest and Wood Products
Important Note:
From January 1, 2023 (1 Dey 1401), all submitted manuscripts to Journal of Forest and Wood Products must include a plagiarism similarity report at the time of submission through the Journal's system. Submissions without this report will not be processed for review. Please obtain the similarity report from one of the following approved systems: IranDoc (here), Samim Noor (here), or Hamyab (here) and attach it during submission.
Research Article
Article Structure
- Manuscript Text:
The manuscript should be in a single Microsoft Word file (version 2003 or later), including all parts of the article: title, abstract, keywords, introduction, research methodology, results and discussion, figures and tables, conclusion, references, and English abstract.
- Font: B Mitra, size 13 for Persian text, Times New Roman, size 11 for English text.
- Layout: Single column layout, 2.5 cm margins on all sides, 1.5 line spacing.
- Maximum Length: 12 pages.
- File Size: Maximum 2 MB to avoid upload/download issues.
- Authors’ details, including institutional email and ORCID, must be provided in a separate submission file.
- Name the main manuscript file starting with "JFWP" followed by a keyword, e.g., JFWP-Road.
Author commitment form must be scanned and submitted along with the manuscript. Download the form [here]. The First page must include:
- Persian title: Maximum 15 concise words, B Mitra font, size 18 bold.
- Abstract:
- A single paragraph summarizing the entire article (150-250 words), without figures, charts, footnotes, or citations.
- Content should be derived from the main body including introduction, methodology, results, and overall conclusion.
- The English abstract must be a complete translation of the title, authors' names, their affiliations, abstract text, and keywords.
- The purpose of study must be clearly stated.
- Keywords:
- Provide 4-7 keywords.
- List them in alphabetical order, separated by commas.
- English keywords should be written in lowercase, except for proper nouns.
Keywords should preferably not appear in the article title and must be listed in both Persian and English alphabetically.
- Main Sections:
The manuscript should include:
- Introduction
- Research Methodology (study area, materials, instruments, methods, formulas, and statistical methods)
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion and Recommendations
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References

- In-text Citations:
- Use square brackets with Persian numbers, e.g., [1], [2], [5-8].
- List citations in order of their first appearance in the text.
- Use Persian font for citation numbers.
- Units:
Use SI units consistently throughout the article.
- Symbols and Abbreviations:
- Explain all symbols and abbreviations clearly upon first appearance in the text.
- Tables:
- Each table must have a title and be numbered in order (Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
- Table text and footnotes: B Mitra font, size 10.
- Include units for all numerical values; explanatory notes should be footnotes.
- Cite the source if the table is not original.
- Figures and Images:
- Figures must be numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) and provide a caption for each (B Mitra font, size 10).
- Use Persian letters and numbers.
- To make Excel chart numbers Persian: Right-click axis → Format Axis → Number → Custom → enter code [$-3010000]0 (for integers) or [$-3010000]0.00 (for two decimals).
- Add units and explanations in figure captions.
- Cite the source if the figure is not original.
- Images must be black and white, 8.5 or 18 cm wide, ~300 dpi, JPEG or TIFF format.
Total figures + tables must not exceed 8 per article.
- Equations and Chemical Reactions:
- Number all equations sequentially within the text.
- Multi-step mechanisms must be labeled as schemes and numbered.
- References:
- List references at the end of the article in English, using Times New Roman font, size 11.
- In-text citations must use brackets with numbers in Persian font, listed by order of appearance.
- All references cited must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
- Order citations ascending, separated by commas, e.g., [3, 7, 24].
- For non-English references, use the English title from the abstract section without changes.
- Theses, unpublished materials, and websites are not accepted as references.
Maximum 20 references allowed for research articles. Exceeding this will result in return without review.
Reference Format Examples
- Journal Articles:
Author(s) last name, initials. (Year). Article title. Journal Name, Volume (Issue), pages. Use “and” before last author. Add (in Persian) for Persian sources.

- Conference Papers:

Review Articles
- Must be at least 10,000 words in length.
- Must include a minimum of 90 references cited in the text.
- The author must cite at least 10 of their own relevant publications and be recognized as an expert in the research area.
- Written permissions must be obtained for any figures or tables reproduced from other publications.
